Jay Shakuntala Welfare Foundation (JSWF) – an Institution for rural-tribal women and vulnerable part of the society, is a Non-Government Organisation, working in the district of Balrampur, Chhattisgarh. We believe that women and children are the base of sustainable and equitable development and effective participation by all stallholders, especially the marginalised, socially excluded and disadvantaged groups, is necessary for promoting equality and equity in the society. JSWF strives to address the challenges of poverty and underdevelopment through strengthening the grassroots civil society efforts and have a large network of grassroots groups (NGOs/CBOs/Panchayat representatives) to amplify voices of the poor, dalit, tribal and women in policy-making platforms. We also promote and encourage involvement of local population in planning, execution and monitoring of development projects thereby challenging the mainstream ‘top – down” development model.

• Women are revered like goddesses, but in reality, they often face hardship and inequality, especially in rural India where most of the population lives.
• Despite their immense contribution at home and work, women face ill-treatment and lack equal opportunities for social participation and empowerment.
• Women juggle multiple roles, managing households and workplaces, yet their status remains lower due to social conditioning, limited access to education and employment, and dependency.
• Jai Shakuntala Welfare Foundation (JSWF) was founded with the belief that empowering women—economically and psychologically—can uplift entire communities.

📢 Our Concern towards Tribal Areas

• Health and socio-economic indicators in tribal areas are below national averages due to poor infrastructure, lack of awareness, and limited access to facilities.
• Factors like insurgency, migration, ecological imbalance, and modernization have worsened conditions, leading to declining tribal populations in Chhattisgarh.
• A dedicated committee has been formed to protect against migration and ensure effective implementation of health, education, and livelihood programs without external pressure.
